Welcome to Abbott!

Whether you are an incoming student from one of our elementary schools or new to the neighborhood, we are glad you are here! We hope that you will find Abbott to be a place where your middle schooler can learn and grow, and experience the independence that comes with being a middle school student.

 

Enrolling at Abbott begins with registration in February, followed by Open House in May, forms in July and Maze Day in August.

 

What is Maze Day?

Maze Day happens before the first day of school and is where students and families come at assigned times to drop off the forms you received in July, get ID cards, and see a little more of our campus. Often campus tours are available from our leadership students during this time. School pictures also happen at Maze Day so be sure your student comes appropriately dressed.

 

On Maze Day the PTA hosts a Welcome Workshop in the library with a short presentation followed by a Q & A. Here you can find out more about some of the differences between elementary school and middle school, how to use School Loop, how to get involved at Abbott, the Outdoor Ed program for 6th graders, and more!

 

Sign Up Genius

If you are interested in getting involved by volunteering, we encourage you to create an account with the online volunteer management tool Sign Up Genius. Like many schools, Abbott utilizes Sign Up Genius frequently to coordinate volunteers, supplies, and more. If you have an account it will be much easier for you to participate. To create an account visit www.signupgenius.com, click “Log In” to create an account. This site will e-mail you reminders for volunteer activities with the date and time you have chosen.

The PTA knows that middle school is a big change from elementary school for both students and parents, and we are here to help you navigate your way. The PTA at Abbott is an excellent resource for newcomers. Consider joining us at one of our meetings to meet other parents, learn about our school from longtime parents and staff, and find out how to get involved at Abbott.
